Laura slept all the time. She hated everyone around her and anyone she could possibly imagine meeting. She took pills to sleep. Her rent was paid for the next six months and she planned on doing nothing for that time.
Laura had been dumped by a very wealthy married man, Renee. Renee paid for her rent and used to pay for her groceries. Now she didn't even bother to eat.
On a idle Wednesday afternoon the fire alarm rang from the hallway. A fire had started on the floor above Laura's apartment. She didn't budge.
The woman next door had knocked on her door and tried to get her to answer with no luck. When the firemen showed up the woman told them about Laura and they knocked down her door and dragged her out of bed. They carried her down stairs and got her to an ambulance.
The ambulance took Laura to the hospital and they tried to wake her with no success. Laura had died from an accidental overdose of her sleeping pills. Her doctor had the nurse call her emergency contact, Renee. Renee was eating dinner with his wife and children. He told them they would have to call someone else, he barely even knew the girl.
